Our Story: A Passionate Journey from Vermont to Hilton Head

In the small, picturesque town of Lincoln, Vermont, population 1,323, two determined individuals dreamed of bringing the vibrant flavors of New England-style IPA to the sunny shores of the South. This father-son duo, Tom and Ryan, embarked on an ambitious journey that would eventually lead them to the beautiful Hilton Head Island, where Lincoln & South Craft Beer was born.

How It All Began

The story of Lincoln & South is one of passion, resilience, and a relentless pursuit of a vision. Tom and Ryan, fueled by a shared love for Vermont-style craft beer and the tranquil allure of Hilton Head Island, set out to blend these two worlds. The family had always cherished their vacations on the island, and Ryan's time at SCAD in Savannah only deepened their connection to the South. They recognized a missing piece in the coastal paradise: the unique beer and atmosphere they left behind in Vermont.

Acquiring the Perfect Gear

In the scorching midsummer heat of Missouri, Tom and Ryan embarked on a mission to decommission and transport the brewing equipment from Rock Creek Brewery. Despite the unexpected news that the brewery had been sold without the staff's knowledge, their determination never wavered. This bold endeavor was the first step in bringing their dream to life.

Finding the Right Home

The journey was not without its hurdles. Their initial location proved unsuitable due to unforeseen challenges, prompting a move to the iconic "blue building" near Palmetto Dunes. However, misunderstandings about parking meant this too wasn't their final stop. Ultimately, they discovered the perfect spot on Island Drive—secluded yet accessible, offering ample space for beer lovers to gather, enjoy music, art, and each other's company in a shaded outdoor setting.

Crafting the Perfect Lineup

Determined to cater to the ever-evolving tastes of their patrons, Tom and Ryan focused on a core lineup that celebrated creativity and innovation. They crafted a single IPA, a double IPA, and a lighter Pilsner, each brewed with meticulous care. Their commitment to quality and variety ensures that every visit offers a new experience for the taste buds.

A Grand Opening and Lasting Celebration

After months of careful aging and lagering, the brewery opened its doors in August, marking the start of an ongoing celebration. Local musicians like Corey Tate, John Cranford, and Sara Burns helped set the rhythm for an atmosphere that never lost its festive spirit. Lincoln & South quickly became a haven for those seeking community, creativity, and exceptional craft beer.

Today, Lincoln & South stands as a testament to Tom and Ryan's unwavering dedication and the vibrant, welcoming space they have created for all to enjoy. It's not just about the beer—it's about the experience, the community, and the shared journey that began in a small Vermont town and found its heart on Hilton Head Island.
